When the Fountain Square Relocation Project eliminated skywalk access to the 525 Building, it created the need for a new lobby and sidewalk level access. To increase the connection to the urban streetscape, PDT Architects parent company, SFA Architects, relocated an exterior stair and escalator, and elevator into a new glass enclosed lobby. A new translucent glass screen wall was created to separate the building lobby from the skywalk lobby. Commercial space was renovated at street level to become part of the new fountain square commercial district.
The meticulous design of custom details included: the glass and stainless steel 'spider' mullionless exterior skin, glass revolving door, custom terrazzo flooring and steps, custom cast glass signage, stainless steel escalators, dichroic art glass lighting feature, interior stone walls and columns, wood ceiling paneling, two story covered entrance portico, lobby lighting fixtures, and free standing art glass screen wall. As one of the first buildings renovated in and around the Fountain Square area 525 Vine has begun to infuse new life into the fabric of the central business district.
