SFA Architects, PDT Architects parent company, completed one of the most extensive building evaluation studies to be undertaken for a school district. An itemization of every element to be repaired or replaced was developed along with its associated costs. This detailed information enabled for the prioritization of elements into a bond issue package. Items included in the campaign were incorporated into a long-term maintenance plan.
The Whitaker Elementary Project involved a 14,000 square foot addition and renovation of the existing school building. The aging sections of the building were replaced with the addition. Project also included site improvements of playground and parking areas. The existing building brick was stained in order to provide a new appearance. A storm water retention system was installed to meet county requirements. Mechanical/electrical improvements include a completely new heating/ventilation system, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, and PA system.
