GRANDIN ROAD
Perched on a Cincinnati hilltop with a picturesque overlook of the Ohio River, 2411 Grandin Road elegantly blends both public and private aspects of contemporary dwelling. The street facade is an open composition of balanced elements that welcome the visitor into the home. The dining room and the sunken living room are tied together by a formal entrance corridor, the hub of the home's public areas. A short flight of slate and granite stairs lead to lower level entertainment space of stone floors and dramatic windows. Here, several conversation areas flow freely into one another around a central hearth and open onto the rear patio. Private areas are reached via a glass enclosed bridge that floats across the enclosed pool area. Another staircase connects three levels of bedrooms, culminating at the master suite with breathtaking views of the river. On both the exterior and interior of the home, the broad material palette allows environmentally responsive and highly stylized compositional elements to complement each other while maintaining a cohesiveness often lacking in contemporary design. 2411 Grandin Road was designed by SFA Architects, the parent company of PDT Architects.
